MOCHIMA NATIONAL PARK
Mochima National Park runs from the bustling resort city of Puerto La Cruz for some 80 km east to the historic Cumana, the first town of South America (founded 1521) . Mochima National Park is one of the largest marine parks in the Caribbean, spreading both seaward and inland, its name in the native language means ‘abundant waters’.
From our base in Playa Colorada in the heart of the park you’ll find a calm azure Caribbean sea for tranquil exploration of a pristine coastline. There’s more than 30 wild islands, scores of remote creeks and unspoiled beaches just for yourself alone. The sea life is abundant and we can virtually guarantee dolphin encounters. Mochima is a paradise for those who enjoy lonely beaches and nature. Fishing is easy from the kayaks and the snorkeling around the islands is excellent.
Some of the closer islands have small fishing communities (excellent seafood) and the outer islands are mostly deserted. Sunsets with a sundowner swinging in a hammock strung between palm trees, over-nighting on your own beach, paradise is here and waiting…
