BEACHES AND ISLANDS – 1 DAY

Isla Arapo and Aripito

An easy paddle out to several small islands and great beaches. Combine clear water, safe snorkeling with an island restaurant meal, and you have a perfect introduction to Sea kayaking

Our Journey begins at Jakera Lodge, Playa Colorada.

Playa Colorada is a picture-postcard perfect (in fact it is one of the most popular selling postcards in Venezuela!), with calm waters year-round ideal for paddling.

We begin with the basic instruction needed for safe travelling in a Sea Kayak and a personalised fitting of your kayak. Arapo Island is just 30-45 minutes paddling away (easy paddling for any fitness). With most groups we will paddle around the more rugged northern side of both islands before landing on a pristine, white sandy beach (just another 30 minutes).

There’s plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful secluded beach where curious iguanas come down to the white sands. The reef immediately in front of the beach is safe, shallow and offers excellent snorkeling along it’s vibrant reefs. The Christmas tree coral is prolific here.

For lunch we paddle round to the next cove where there’s a small fishing community with a restaurant that offers excellent seafood. More curious iguanas and time to digest lunch sunbathing. Also time for a refreshing swim in the clear waters and then unfortunately it’s time to paddle back. A thorough, though relaxing day.

Prices $50 USD p/p based on minimum group size of 4.

SUNSET TOUR – 1 DAY / 2 DAYS

Isla Arapo and Aripito

Imagine paddling off into the glowing sunset coupled with a ‘romantic’ island restaurant meal, an evening to remember!

Departing from Jakera Lodge in Playa Colorada at about 4 pm.

First we provide the training needed for a safe paddle. This is followed by a 45 minute paddle to Isla Aripito. Here we enjoy a succulent sea food meal at a small island restaurant, as we watch the magnificent sunset. A truly romantic and perfect evening.

Once your meal has settled, we casually paddle under the moonlight (or torchlight) back to out base, usually arriving back at around 9.30pm.

We recommend you then enjoy a ‘sunsetter’ drink or two and enjoy the hospitality of our cosy Jakera Lodge.

Prices $50 USD p/p per day based on minimum group size of 4.

DOLPHIN ENCOUNTER – 2 DAYS

Mochima National Park

An introductory day paddling out into the gulf with dolphin encounters! A restaurant meal on a beautiful island, followed by a night beach camping on a pristine white sandy beach. Suitable for all levels of paddler.

We’ll can arrange pick-up from Puerto la Cruz or you can jump on a 20 minute bus to Playa Colorada.

A full safety briefing by professional guides is given before leaving for the 45min to 1hr (3 km) introduction paddle to the beautiful Islas of Arapo and Arapito. Refreshments and a short break on the beach. This is followed by a 2-3 hour paddle (7 km) for amazing dolphin encounter. Here we experience first hand, the spirit of the dolphin.

As evening falls we head for a deserted beach where well-deserved cocktails are served. Enjoy the beautiful sunset and some local entertainment, a perfect ending to the perfect day. Sleep in tents with mattresses or hammocks.

Day two involves Sea kayaking to isolated fishermen’s houses to learn a little about their traditional ways of fishing, a mid-morning snorkel and a return paddle along a lush and rugged coastline to Playa Colorada.

Prices $95 USD p/p based on minimum group size of 4.

MOCHIMA EXPLORER– 3 DAYS

A very popular trip. Starting at the idyllic village of Mochima we paddle, snorkel and beach comb our way back to Playa Colorada. Suitable for all levels of paddler.

This is our most popular overnight trip in Mochima.

After a 30 minute Jeep ride to the picturesque Mochima Village, a full safety briefing, and the loading of our kayaks, we are off! Mochima inlet is stunning and after a relaxed hour paddle we arrive at Playa Blanca (the white beach). This is known as one of the finest beaches in Venezuela, if not South America. At the weekend it can be packed with over a thousand people (all arriving by peÒeros – small boat) but during the week (when we arrive!) it’s all but deserted and you should have this amazing beach all to yourself. Some chill-time swimming, snacks etc and its off again out past some 150m towering cliffs to our own little beach for the night.

Once the site for a proposed Hotel, it’s now the home of a fishing family and a gorgeous place to stay the night.

Day Two is a 4 hour paddle, including visiting an incredible underwater paradise – Caracas Bajo. This is some of the very best snorkeling and fishing in Venezuela. Tying up our kayaks, we can explore these crystal clear waters by snorkel or try and catch dinner. There is even an old wreck to dive down to.

Another night on a deserted beach, and then its Dolphin encounter time. This area is teaming with Dolphins, and we never fail to see them - an exhilarating and magical time. Another 2 hours of paddling we reach our Island restaurant for a fresh sea food meal.

Then its just 45 minutes back to our base, at Playa Colorada for a well deserved shower, and sundowner!

Prices $95 USD p/p based on minimum group size of 4.

MOCHIMA FULL MONTY – 5 DAYS
Paddle your way through the very best of Mochima National Marine Park. Beautiful remote beaches, deserted islands, superb snorkeling, excellent camping. Suitable for all levels of paddler.

We start at Jakera Lodge and jeep the 30 minutes to Mochima Village. A comprehensive safety briefing is followed by a paddle to the famous Playa Blanca (White Beach). We paddle and explore Caracas Bajo (amazing sea reef for snorkeling, La Piscina (the natuaral swimming pool which is great for snorkeling) and the hugely popular El Farro (filled with sailing boats in the weekend – deserted during the week), and can snorkel old wrecks (steam boat and freighter). Each night is spent on a beautiful beach. We normally experience Mochima sunsets with a sundowner or two.

Deserted islands, Dolphins encounters and friendly fishing communities.

Prices $230 USD p/p based on minimum group size of 4.
