4 Days - Los Llanos Wildlife Safari
Day 1 : Paramo overland jeep tour and visit the little mountain towns of Tabay, Mucuchies, the road market of Mucuruba and the Mucubaji Lake located at 3600 mts altitude. You will arrive in Los Llanos in the late afternoon. After dinner you will go on a night safari looking for the Venezuelan Spectacle Caiman the most successful of all crocodilians in the world. Day 2 : Start with a morning boat ride up “Rio Guaritico”. Guaritico River is one of the most amazing rivers in the Llanos as far as wildlife is concerned. You are likely to see fresh water dolphins, the matamata and galapago turtle, spectacle caiman, otters and at least 30 different species of birds. After the river safari, you will go back to the camp to taste a delicious Pabellon Criollo, which is our national dish. In the afternoon we will head out into the Sabana again in jeeps and then on foot, into the muddy swamps in search of the Giant Green Anaconda (the biggest snake in the world). There will also be a chance for a spot of fishing in the evening, for Piranhas and Venezuela’s national fish, the Peacock Bass. That same night you will enjoy a Llaneros party and will learn how to dance Joropo (the traditional dance of Los Llanos). Day 3 : In the morning, you’ll go on a two hours horse ride followed by a lunch of freshly caught Piranhas. Then it’s back up to Merida for dinner! The price is USD $195 and includes tranfers Merida-Apure-Merida, all meals, camp (hammocks and beds), bilingual guide and all activities.
1 -3 Days - Hiking & Climbing Bolivar, Humbolt and Pan de Azucar
There are some fantastic hiking and climbing opportunities in the Andes departing Merida. Options include Pan de Azucar Pick : Two days, day one a pick of sand over 4.800 meter, trekking in a beautiful valley in La Culata National Park. Price USD $75 pp per day (minimum two persons) including all meals, transfer and entry to the National Park, guide, and equipment (sleeping in tents). OR Bolivar pick or Humboldt pick or both – just Bolivar 5 days, both 6 days: walking about 5 or 6 hour a day, sleeping in tents, starting at 1.600 meters and ending in 5007 meters. Climbing last day Bolivar pick and descending by cable car!! Price USD $60 pp per day (minimum two persons) including all meals, transfer and entry to the National Park, guide, and equipment (sleeping in tents).
