ORINOCO DELTA 6 DAYS – EXPEDITION TO THE LAND OF HONEY .

Orinoco Delta Day 1 : Leave early morning from Puerto la Cruz heading South-East and passing through the plains of the eastern Llanos. Lunch, then a 45 minute high-speed motor boat ride to our camp in the heart of the jungle.

Orinoco Delta Spacious and comfortable private mosquito-netted traditionally built cabins with beds and showers. Meals are served in a large mosquito-netted restaurant and lounge area with a tropical style bar. There are a variety of local orphaned wild animals around the camp. Afternoon canoe trip to explore the Delta before a sunset cruise to greet the river dolphins and otters.

Orinoco Delta Day 2 : We’ll take a high speed scenic trip deeper into a primitive, isolated and less touristy Simoina (The Land of Honey). Here you’ll discover an intense concentration of wildlife and river-life. The river here is dark and mysterious, we’ll go for a jungle walk to learn about the flora and fauna and visit the homes of local Warao Indians. Sleep is in hammocks in a rustic riverside jungle camp with guide and cook.

Orinoco Delta Day 3 : Take a canoe trip through a channel which cuts through the jungle and offers a birds eye view of wildlife. Observe an abundance of macaws flying in pairs. After lunch we take a motor boat back to the main camp.

Orinoco Delta Day 4 : Visit Warao Indian dwellings and look out for wildlife such as red howler monkeys, toucans, crocodiles and snakes. Fish in a canoe for piranha and catfish.

Orinoco Delta Day 5: Tropical rain forest excursion with a Warao Indian guide to explore and examine the fruits of the jungle. After lunch, a scenic journey back to Puerto la Cruz arriving late evening.
