After 4 months and 4 groups of volunteers, we are about to open our community Center officially
In the past 4 months, we managed to create “COCAL KIDS CLUB” in a community center that we renovated together with our volunteers from The Leap!
Today we received 18 kids who received English Classes. Those Kids really need our help!
We have decided to open the community Center twice a week now even when we are not there – we hired Thomas to give a music class once a week and a local teacher to give an English class once a week – we will also take over payments of electricity and water for the Center!
We can now start to stock the Center with sports gear – books – arts and crafts material – musical instruments etc.
If you are travelling on one of our programs, please bring your donations with you and we will handle them to the Kids club.
Chris Patterson, Founder & Chief Jakera and the Jakera Club says:
“This is one or our best projects to date and i can see it getting much bigger and better – much like our jakera club in playa colorada which started just like this over 20 years ago and now has 130 kids – 9 full time teaches most of whom where once jakera club kids “
I’ve told the students and they are delighted to have been part of this project.
Future groups will continue with small building jobs and Maintenace, organise activities with kids, teach a variety of classes based on what they group have to offer.
We have a great artist in this group who will lead the art class in the afternoon for example!
