Get ready to Dance! Cuba is open!
Having recently completed a very enjoyable week at Casa Jakera in Havana Vieja and Casa Sergio in Vinales, we are happy to announce that Cuba is officially open for business again, after almost 2 years of lock down .
Cuba has finally lifted their travel restrictions and from the 15th November 2021 it’s possible to enter the country with a negative PCR test or a Vaccination card.
Cuba have once more proved themselves as masters in the medical field by developing their own vaccine and have vaccinated close to 90% of the population which puts them ahead of pretty much everyone I think . The “Soberana 02” Vaccine created by Cuban doctors led by Vicente Bencomo Verez, La Doctora Dagmara and Licenciado Yuri is potentially one of the best and safest in the world and is said to be effective against all new strains of Covid.

Cuba have eliminated the US$ and the tourist currency, CUC that was 1/1 for the US $, only the national CUP now exists.
MasterCard and Visa are increasingly accepted, provided they are not issued by a US bank. ATMs are more common and cash can be also be obtained in banks and Cadecas (Casas de Cambio) with non-US Visa credit and Visa debit cards.
We suggest you bring cash in €EUROS or UK POUNDS for better value and exchange rates and to avoid problems if your cards don’t work .
WIFI
In Cuba, there are many parks or hotel lobbys with Wifi connections. You also have the possibility now to rent or buy a local cuban sim card for the period of your stay.
Covid-19 hit Cuba hard, but we are almost back on track.
Our Casa Jakera in Havana Vieja, your “Home away from Home”, has never looked better after over a year of renovations during lockdown. We have 12 full time staff , most of whom have been with us since the beginning, who are ready to show you the real Cuba.
Today there are less crowds and people are happy to see tourist again. There’s a cool friendly vibe in the air and people want to play music and dance again. Slowly but surely the old bars and cafes are opening up and coming back to life.
There’s only one thing missing and that’s you !
Cubans live on the tourist $ , everyone has a room to rent or a dance to teach. We support the local community and hire only Cuban people , so come to Cuba now and have the time of your life and support the Cuban people at the same time .
