The combination of rainfall and volcanic activity makes for a mineral rich soil, advantageous for the production of this crop. As the world has modernised and palletes progressed, Guatemalan coffee makers now cater to the everchanging trend of flavours; from fruity finishes to more contemporary concoctions that invite toffee or chocolate into the mix. Find out why the coffee of Guatemala is so popular when you join the tour on our programme.

In the historic town of Antigua, our signature Coffee Tours are led by the coffee growers themselves who will lead you through their fields, explain the work behind cultivating coffee, walk you through each step of processing from bean to brew, and finish the tour by joining you for a cup of De La Gente coffee. Along the way, you’ll learn more than just the process behind coffee – you’ll have authentic and transparent conversations to hear first hand from a small-scale producer about the obstacles, triumphs, and hopes that his/her family and community has experienced within the coffee industry and the persisting enthusiasm and dedication that they have to this livelihood.

The tour includes round trip transportation from the city of Antigua to the heart of the coffee production: the farmers homes. With both Spanish and English interpretation you will expand your learning of both language and culture. The tour takes you through the coffee fields adorning the volcanic landscape and mountains where you will be shown demonstrations of

traditional roasting and grinding techniques before tasting the produce with your very own steaming cup back in the producer’s home. Finally, as well as walking away with a wealth of new-found knowledge, you will walk away with a gifted 12 ounce bag of roasted coffee, it doesn’t get more authentic than this.
