Costa Rica is well connected by air to other Central and South American countries, as well as the USA. The main international airport is the ‘Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Santamaría’, located 17km northwest of San José in the town of Alajuela. We can arrange for someone to meet you at ‘International Arrivals’ for an overnight transfer to a hostel conveniently located near the airport, and onward transfer the next day to Santa Teresa. (Arrival Package). For the transfer to Santa Teresa, we use our in-house driver or partner.
visas are generally not required for stays of up to 90 days. However, it is important to ensure that you have a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the dates of your trip.

Both US dollars and Costa Rican colones are accepted everywhere and can be dispensed from ATMs across the country. With the exception of the smallest towns and shops in rural areas, credit cards are also widely accepted.

Make sure you book the Arrival Package so we will pick you up at the airport.
Recommended the arrival package. If you arriva a day early, simply book an extra night in San Jose in our hostel. Make sure you keep us in the loop of your flight details at least 2 weeks in advance.
Are you spending an overnight in another hotel in San Jose? No problem, we can pick you up wherever you are, make sure you are in touch with us at least 1 week before.
No problem at all, you can get to our camp on the start date around 1 pm. Make sure you are letting us know that you will arrive by yourselfs.
Ones you get your lugguage, walk ouside of the airport looking for our driver holding a Sign with your Name or with the Logo of Jakera. Go to the right side, walk about 50 meters until you see on the right side a little Restaurant called Malinche. Wait for us there.
You can book the arrival package as normal and book an extra night in San Jose. We will pick you up the same way, and you will arrive one day earlier at our hotel in San Jose where you can relax at the pool and wait for the others.
If you are staying in another hotel in San Jose, no problem. We can arrange a pick-up from wherever you are, just get in touch with us at least 1 week ahead. Please note that prices will vary based on the distance.

If you are arriving at the Jakera camp by yourself, no problem. Just be there at 1pm and make sure to give us a heads up that you will be arriving on your own.
